 Scent Detection Workshop with Don Blair

Mr. Don Blair of CIAK9.net at our training resort in Sherwood Park for 2.5 full days of intense education and training of your personal dog in areas of

         - Scent detection

         - Tracking competition performance

         - Working (career) dogs

         - FUN for civilians (pet owners) and their dogs!

 

This workshop is open for beginners! No previous training required.


** Registration is for one person & one dog.

** $100 option for additional working dog or an additional participant handling same dog.

 

SEMINAR INSTRUCTOR: Don Blair


DON BLAIR CPDT-KA Presently serves as Vice President of Research and Development for Strijder Group K9 and is currently detailed to Auburn University's Canine Detection Training Center as Chief Canine Instructor. Before joining Strijder Group K9, Don was a Canine Training Specialist in the Research and Development Branch of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Canine Center located in Fort Royal, Virginia.


In his 35 + years of experience he has been deeply involved in a variety of canine fields. As a canine competitor and instructor. He has titled several dog and handler teams to a multitude of titles in several disciplines. As a Police K9 Handler, Don and K9 "Ranger" had numerous felony apprehensions and hundreds of narcotic seizures, qualifying 5 straight years for the USPCA National Police Dog Trials.


Don has overseen the training and certification of hundreds of canine teams and is still active today as a decoy trainer, Judge and seminar speaker specializing in canine behaviour, aggression, detection, tracking, problem solving and "decoy" work. Don has spoken to numerous audiences locally and internationally. As a CBP canine instructor, he trained over 60 classes of domestic, international, state and local law enforcement students in various courses including canine aggression, behaviour, advanced handling and deployment in all areas of explosive, narcotic & human scent detection; training aid construction & care, canine selection and a variety of decoy and canine aggression related courses.


Don has been utilized as an expert witness in Federal Court for his expertise in detection and canine aggression. Don left Government service for a short time, venturing into the private sector where he became managing director for one of the largest private canine security firms in the world.

Sunday, October 1 2017 - 9:30am - 5:00pm
